I personally believe that it was the thriller generation that made Michael Jackson. It was by far his best album. He had his best looks then, his best voice and he had his best dance style back then.
I really do not like the later MJ songs as much, they are just not as special. You can see why Thriller was the best album to date!

His album bad was quite good, and off the wall also, but these are the only three I really rate with Thriller being miles ahead! To many of his later songs were about there being world peace etc, he had too much emotion into his later songs and were not funky enough.

Michael has always had class.
And I love all of his albums. Every last song is gorgeous. And what’s wrong with world peace? Michael was a very generous person. He gave everything he could to others and always put them before himself. And sometimes emotion is needed in order to make a song. It makes the song better if it’s coming from the heart.
I think all of Michael’s work is amazing and I’ll be listening to his music for the rest of my life

Well, thriller was defiantly what made the Michael Jackson and that’s what got him really famous. Obviously due to thriller, but he was doing to right move going onto bad as rock/pop rock because in the time bad was released, that was the theme or more listened to genre and then when his dangerous album came out that was the genre, soft/urban/pop.
But what you must understand is, even if the album is bad, there is always one or two songs that shine out from the rest, the ones that have the most meaning or made the best music video too.
On Off the wall its – Don’t stop till you get enough and Rock with you.
On Thriller its – Thriller & Billie jean
On Bad its – Bad & Smooth criminal
Everyone is entitled to there own opinon and there is mine :^ x

His later albums were fantastic as well. You didn’t expect him to do a repeat of Thriller each time, did you?
The songs about bringing world peace, awareness etc were almost exclusive to MJ and they helped define him more extensively. They are beautiful songs.
Too much emotion in his later songs? I find the level of emotion in his songs is essential as a listener of his music. It makes me feel more connected to his words. I never thought emotion (or too much) would be a negative thing.
Of course, this is my opinion and you are entitled to yours
Edit: lol I ♥ MJ™ I didn’t know we would say the same thing on opinions lol I didn’t copy you, I swear

Michael was a classy guy until the day he took his last breath.
And quite frankly, I thought DANGEROUS and INVINCIBLE were some of his best work.
But to each his or her own, I guess.

I guess the great thing about Michael is that he underwent so many changes in his sound and style that there is always going to be something there for everyone.
I personally love his later music – he was shaping the change in the music industry and was simply experimenting, but to each their own. I happen to adore the vulnerability of his later music, which I guess, could only come after he endured a ton of rubbish.
But at the same time, I love his early stuff too. People seem to forget that he had solo albums out way before Off The Wall – I love that sound for him personally, but then again, I guess other’s don’t.
I think the emotion in his music makes it really painful to listen to, but at the same time, without it, he would not be the Michael Jackson we all love
Best album? Thriller or HiStory

Thriller was, of course, the best selling album of all time. And the best MJ album of all time. It made him super-famous, but he really didn’t stop there, IMO. Some of my favorite songs are from different albums.
Thriller – Billie Jean, Beat It, Thriller, Human Nature etc.
Bad – Man In The Mirror, Smooth Criminal (<3), Bad, Leave Me Alone, Dirty Diana…
Dangerous – Black Or White (Come on, it’s classic!), Give In To Me (Amazing), Who Is It, Why You Wanna Trip On Me, Gone Too Soon, In The Closet…
HIStory – They Don’t Care About Us, Smile (cover), 2 Bad, Scream, Stranger In Moscow, Tabloid Junkie, This Time Around, D.S., Come Together, You Are Not Alone, Little Susie…
Invincable – Cry, You Rock My World, Butterflies, Privacy, Threatened…
Strangely, I don’t like Off The Wall.
Yes, Thriller was an awesome album. But, as you can see, some of his greatest songs came from later albums. What’s wrong with singing about World Peace and such? Man In The Mirror was a hit. Heal The World was…alright. Earth Song has power
I love emotion in songs, but that’s just my opinion. Your entitled to yours, of course. I think a few of his songs were not funky at all, such as Break Of Dawn, Speechless…mostly from the Invincable album. This Is It wasn’t very funkt either, but it beats the two I mentioned anyway. You should listen to Let Me Let Go, it’s unreleased and has quite a good beat to it compared to the other crap artists are releasing now.

I was thinking the same thing too. I really enjoyed his works from the Jackson 5 to Thriller. But after Bad, his style of music just did not appeal to me anymore. I mean, he still made good music, but Off the wall and Thriller had more beat and class, you know what I mean? I mean, yeah, of course, most of his later songs were more emotional. But then Michael is known for working with all different styles of music. If he just worked with one, then only people with a certain taste of music would like his music. In the invincible songs, too many songs were way too emotional. lol
