Okay is it just me or does anyone else hate it when someone claims to love MJ and they say their favorite song is like Thriller or Beat it.
It just annoys me when people say his biggest songs like Billie Jean, Thriller, and Beat It.
Don’t get me wrong I absolutely ADORE those songs but if you were as big of an MJ as you claim to be you would know more of his songs that aren’t as popular like She’s out of my Life, Off the Wall, Ben, Human Nature, etc etc.
Personally I love those songs more than his biggest ones because they have a deeper and more personal meaning.
It might just be me but if you are a huge Michael Jackson fan you would know about his other songs and I am pretty sure there would at least be ONE that you like more or just the same as his bigger songs.

Maybe some people just don’t like songs like She’s Out of My Life, Ben, Off The Wall, and Human Nature as much as Thriller, Billie Jean, The Way You Make Me Feel, and Beat It. It all depends on someones personal preference.

i agree. but some people may have different opinions. but you can definitely tell if someone is a fake fan. if they say thriller is their fav song, you know immediately that’s the only song they know by him. that is FAR from his best song. i personally think heaven can wait, butterflies, rock with you, human nature, etc are his best songs.

I see where you’re coming from but honestly, it bothers me when I favor a song that ‘unfortunately’ the majority likes, so therefore some people think I’m not a "real" fan because I favor a popular song from that particular artist.
(btw my fave MJ song is Human Nature

I agree. Given, those are excellent songs – I understand if they are someone’s favourite. I just get annoyed when they are the only songs people know – I was talking to my friend a couple days after MJ died, and I asked him what were his favourite songs to which he replied Beat It, Billie Jean, and Thriller. When I told him my favourite songs were Human Nature, Leave Me Alone, and Give into Me, he was seriously like ‘wtf, never heard of them’.

I agree and disagree here.
What I do realize and treat with sensibility is that you reckon a real fan or of such content would know other songs, like the ones you listed.
I genuinely notice that a fan goes into research of all the songs they can, but you’re never going to like everything, even if it’s by your favourite artist.
Therefore I can see their root value of quoting their favourite song as, like you said, Billie Jean, Thriller… you know what, though? They could be literally their favourite songs despite enjoying the other songs as you described aswell. Likability, favourability and popularity are all different regions of the music.

Just because you’re a fan doesn’t mean his bigger songs can’t be one of your favorites :/
If you like the song,, you like it. It doesn’t matter weather it’s Thriller or Beat It,, Childhood or Speed Demon. Some people just have more of a taste for his older stuff <3
I see where it would be annoying when it sounds like those are the only songs they know,, but that isn’t always the case.

True,but i guess if its their faves it is good enough,a fan is a fan regardless which songs of MJs they prefer as their favorites.
I understand what ur saying,but u can love Billie Jean,Beat It ,and Thriller most-doesnt mean they dont like/love his other songs.
I love all his music,but yes i have some that stand out more than the others.

i agree if u are a true fan u would acknowledge all of his songs not just the popular ones.
EDIT: my favorite songs are Human Nature, P.Y.T., Baby Be Mine, Smooth Criminal, Rock With You, Off the Wall, Lady in My Life, etc.

i know!! that annoys me too!! that happens a lot at school.
we get 2 bring music 2 school in my elective class on most Fridays and 1 of the songs i burned 2 my cd was they don’t really care about us and a girl said i dont like this 1. the song JUST came on and she but just "dissed" it!! i was saying 2 myself that she didnt even give the song a chance b/c that was her 1st time hearing it!! but as soon as billie jean, thriller, or man in the mirror was played, she was saying i lv this song!! that annoys me too!!
